I’m doing some research and I can’t seem to locate information on this. I am mainly looking for information on men paying for the meal/activity for women but would also like information on men picking women up for the date as well. I appreciate all answers but please don’t answer with: “well we need the money for clothes”, “because real men pay”, “that’s just what they are supposed to do” or “men don’t always pick up/pay!” those won’t help me. I’m looking for facts. I think this may be a cultural idea in America but need more information.

My quick answer to this question:

Its a relatively new invention, invented in the United States in the early 20th century. Its a commercial invention benefiting restaurants and such. Kind of like the diamond invention, that was invented just some decades ago, by the largest diamond retailer who actually paid Hollywood and the media to make diamond-gifting look cool.

The concept of a “date” doesn’t exist in too many countries outside of the united states. Most other places, men and women just “hang out” and get to know each other.

Don’t buy into that bullshit. Trust me, you do not want a woman who wants you to buy her dinner, gifts and such. Don’t allow yourself to be exploited like that. Even the woman who claims she believes men should pay for everything, has 2-3 badboys she screws when she’s lonely. Guess how many dates those guys took her out on? ZERO.

Be the friend with benefits, and let it develop from there. Women love free dinners, just like we all do. But that doesn’t make you more attractive, in fact, she thinks of you as the loser who couldn’t get her company unless he paid for stuff.
